In short, the Steering Committee felt East Bloomfield was essentially “closed for business.”  The 2020 Comp Plan gives growth the green light.  Indeed, we wish to keep our pristine farm fields, wood lots, and scenic rural and historic beauty.  But there’s a strong citizen need to grow our Tax Base. This will help moderate future tax rate growth, strengthen our competitive position vs. neighboring towns and make Bloomfield more attractive for residents and business investment.

I'm a local Bloomfielder. My parents went to high school together in Bloomfield and built a house here when I was born. My husband and I both attended Bloomfield Central School and decided to move back home together after college to start our own home and family. When the Marquis de Lafayette rode his buggy around upstate in 1825, he exclaimed that East Bloomfield was the most beautiful town he’d ever seen.  Maybe he was being polite, but Bloomfield was widely regarded as a prosperous, civic-minded paradise of rich farms fueled by New England pioneer grit.
